L Series – What It Is:
The L Series rack-free modular PLC, packed with built-in features, bridging the gap between the FX micro-PLC and iQ Platform high-performance modular PAC. The L Series boasts the power of a QnUDE Ethernet-embedded Universal Q CPU, but with the compact design and easy expansion of the FX.

NEW (1/17/2012)- Mitsubishi Electric Automation, Inc. introduces two new CPUs and all new expansion options for the L Series controller. Two new CPUs are introduced into the lineup to satisfy the demands of a growing number of OEM machine builders that require negative and positive switching output logic from their controllers. These new CPUs have the exact same footprint, feature sets and functions as the existing models but adds source transistor switching logic for the built-in I/O. The L Series is “Built-In”

All of the best features are built-in; I/O, Positioning, High-Speed Counters, Ethernet, CC-Link, Data Logging, and a standard SD/SDHC memory card interface.

The rack-free modular architecture simplifies the configuration process so that pre-determining the base unit rack size is no longer an issue. L Series hardware snaps together and is secured by clips on a DIN rail, so configurations can be changed and expanded freely; no extra tools (not even a screw driver) are required.

Built-in CC-Link allows for L Series PLCs to be added onto a network as an easy-setup Slave, or to act as a Master for up to 64 stations of the 1000+ CC-Link field devices available. Complete CC-Link IE 1Gigabit Ethernet networks with both Controller-level and Field-level communication should be presented as the way of the future. Now with CC-Link IE Field operating on standard Cat5e cables using RJ45 connectors, customers benefit from an easy and familiar wiring system for all of their controller-to-controller and remote I/O communication. The L Series CC-Link IE Field head station will be the remote I/O and field device platform.

LSeries Ethernet

Target Applications:

L Series is ideal for low local I/O applications, with a few axes of Positioning or Motion, and field device remote I/O or networking.

Also, with the implementation of CC-Link IE Field, 1Gigabit deterministic communication over standard Cat 5e cables, L Series I/O and intelligent modules become the gateways to a robust industrial Ethernet network.

• Packaging applications 1-4 axes of motion with mark detection
• Remote I/O stations for digital & analog I/O, high-speed counters, and serial or CC-Link communication
• General control with need for data logging; built-in to the controller, logged to standard SD/SDHC memory, or transferred out using FTP
• CC-Link Master/Slave applications.
• Basic version stand-alone machines with possible future migration to Q Series or iQ Platform complexity.
